Program Location & Duration
Location: Kauri Coast, Recent Zealand. Duration: Minimum 8 weeks.
Program Cost
$2900 USD for the first two weeks + $330 for each week thereafter. Fee includes all food, accommodation, pre‑departure + in‑country support, orientation and all project‑related activities. Does not include flights, travel insurance, personal spending, visas and vaccinations.
Program Overview
Learn leadership and management skills and lead a team of volunteers. Learn how to set‑up and manage a not‑for‑profit organization. Participate in hands‑on conservation work in different forests, each with its unique characteristics. See endangered species in the wild and explore areas closed to the general public. Learn about sustainability and living off‑grid. Engage in self‑discovery by immersing in a remote forest setting. Visit attractions of the Kauri Coast, including a trip to the lakes and a visit to a 2000‑year‑old tree.
Advantages

Volunteer Responsibilities
Lead a small team of volunteers.
Plan and schedule activities, preparation, current volunteer training, and safety procedures.
Assist in creating access trails, protecting native species from invasive rats, possums and stoats.
Plant native trees and monitor pest numbers.
Build and maintain an environment that supports endangered Kiwi and Kokako birds.
