Software Development Manager, AWS Networks (City of Sydney)

AWS Infrastructure Services owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. In other words, we’re the people who keep the cloud running. We support all AWS data centers and all of the servers, storage, networking, power, and cooling equipment that ensure our customers have continual access to the innovation they rely on. Key Responsibilities
- Lead a hybrid team of software, systems development, and network engineers to deliver software‑defined traffic engineering solutions for AWS global backbone networks.
- Collaborate with people across AWS to deliver the highest standards for safety and security while providing an indistinguishable from perfect global network at the lowest possible cost for customers.
- Manage sprint planning for in‑flight projects.
- Prepare a project report for Director level review.
- Review high‑level solution designs and coordinate stakeholder reviews.
- Lead a review of operational metrics to ensure continual improvement in the security, availability, and effectiveness of services you own.
- Drive process and software improvements across the space, ensuring engineers have explicit goals and handling escalations from director level down. Basic Qualifications
- 3+ years of engineering team management experience
- 7+ years of engineering experience
- 8+ years of leading the definition and development of multi‑tier web services
- Knowledge of engineering practices and patterns for the full software/hardware/network development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, certification, and live‑site operations Preferred Qualifications
- Experience communicating with users, other technical teams, and senior leadership to collect requirements, describe software product features, technical designs, and product strategy
