More about the role Job Summary Develops and implements thermal and mechanical engineering solutions. Analyses components and system performance to optimize hardware functionalities and reliability. Collaborates with cross-functional teams to innovate and improve product designs. Key Areas of Responsibility As R&D; Engineer, you will be responsible to:
- Design, develop and detail both creative new lighting product concepts and next gen iterations
• Support Engineer-to-Order (ETO) activities by developing customised product solutions for project-specific applications
- Produce accurate engineering documentation including CAD drawings, manufacturing files, specifications and Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Ensure developed products meet their design intent, compliance requirements, manufacturability and cost targets
• Work closely with internal stakeholders to support prototyping, testing, validation and product industrialisation activities
- Achieve agreed project schedules, timelines and deliverables
• Actively contribute to the operation and continuous improvement of the 3D print farm, rapid prototyping equipment and production facility
- Participate in product testing, root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives
• Collaborate effectively with our globally based engineers and cross-functional teams while adhering to company policies, procedures and systems
- Support product compliance activities in line with ANZ standards and regulatory requirements
• Participate in ongoing professional development and training to remain current with industry trends, technologies and regulatory changes
- Demonstrate a strong commitment to Signify’s Environmental, Health & Safety policies and procedures Critical Experiences While we value and appreciate all applicants, we believe that the following experience and skills will be needed to shine brightly in this job opening:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Product Design, Industrial Design or a related discipline
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in a similar engineering or product development role
• Solid proficiency in SolidWorks and associated CAD/modelling software
- Familiarity with ANZ lighting standards and luminaire compliance requirements
• Knowledge of LED systems, electronics and lighting control protocols
- Experience with prototyping, 3D printing and manufacturing processes
• Strong problem-solving, communication and stakeholder management skills
