What you'll be doing The Nutrition and Dietetics Department within Sydney Children’s Hospital Network (SCHN) delivers evidence-based nutrition care to optimise the growth, health, and wellbeing of infants, children, and adolescents with acute, chronic, and complex medical conditions. The Diet Supervisor is responsible for the coordination, leadership, and operational oversight of designated Allied Health Assistants, and for effective liaison with dietitians and the Head of Nutrition and Dietetics. The primary purpose of this role is to support the delivery of safe, high-quality, patient-centred nutrition care through effective supervision, workforce coordination, and adherence to clinical governance and organisational standards. This role provides day-to-day leadership to dietetic and/or support staff, including workload allocation, rostering, and service coordination within a fast-paced paediatric healthcare environment. Working closely with the Nutrition and Dietetics management team and multidisciplinary stakeholders—including medical, nursing, allied health, and food services—the Diet Supervisor supports effective service delivery, workforce capability, quality improvement initiatives, and the implementation of evidence-based practice to ensure coordinated, high-quality nutrition care and optimal outcomes for children and families across Sydney Children’s Hospital Network. - Nutrition Qualification including Certificate IV in Allied Health Assistance (Nutrition Stream), relevant university nutrition qualification.
- Previous experience as a diet supervisor or significant experience as a nutrition assistant working in an hospital environment. This includes significant experience working in the Formula Room of a paediatric hospital.
- Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal, with demonstrated ability to develop solid and cooperative relationships with a range of stakeholders.
- Excellent time management and organisational skills. This includes the ability to manage a busy workload.
- Understanding of basic clinical nutrition practices and therapeutic diets, specialised nutrition products and food service systems.
- Computer Skills including competence with food service systems or other databases.
- Demonstrated ability to work effectively within the team individually, while contributing to the leadership of that team, including effective collaboration with Food Services and other disciplines.
- Willingness to participate in a seven-day roster which may include all days of the week including public holidays.
