Community Development – Social Work. Ryde, NSW. Permanent – part-time (24 hours per week). About us At Royal Rehab Ryde we are redefining health and wellbeing. We offer a comprehensive range of specialist rehabilitation services for both public and private patients. Our team provides expert care for individuals with neurological conditions including stroke, traumatic brain injury, spinal cord injury, Parkinson's disease, multiple sclerosis, and more. We also deliver orthopaedic rehabilitation, post‐operative care and general reconditioning. Services are available across both inpatient and outpatient settings, ensuring continuity of care and tailored support throughout the recovery journey. About the role An exciting opportunity exists for a passionate and driven social worker to join our dedicated Spinal Injury Unit. As a valued member of a collaborative multidisciplinary team, you will deliver high‐quality, evidence‐based social work services to clients, supporting them through their rehabilitation journey. In this rewarding role, you'll provide holistic, person‐centred care, advocate for clients, support adjustment to injury and help individuals and their families navigate complex emotional, social and practical challenges. Key responsibilities Provide counselling to assist clients and their family/carers to deal with the emotional impact of injury, illness and disability and to undertake case planning, liaison, advocacy and referral to maximise access to appropriate community services. Liaise with multi‐disciplinary team colleagues to optimise client care. Contribute to the ongoing development of the Social Work service. Comply with Royal Rehab and Social Work (SW) policies and procedures. Undertake other duties as required by Spinal Injury Unit Clinical Operational Manager (COM) or Social Work Skilled Leader. About you Essential Criteria Tertiary qualifications in Social Work, eligibility for membership of the Australian Association of Social Workers and commitment to the AASW Code of Ethics. 3 years post‐graduate experience as a social worker. Demonstrable clinical skills in assessment, counselling, advocacy, referral to community services and discharge planning in a health/rehabilitation setting. Demonstrated competence in communication skills – written and verbal, negotiation, conflict resolution. Sound time management skills and demonstrated ability to set priorities and complete tasks. Demonstrated personal commitment to participation in supervision and professional development. Computer skills and demonstrated competency. Current NSW unrestricted C Drivers licence.
