- Pathway to Project Management Play a lead role on a major civil infrastructure project supporting one of Australia's fastest-growing development corridors. ABOUT THE ROLE We are seeking an experienced Design Manager to take ownership of the design function on a large-scale civil infrastructure project in Western Sydney. This role is heavily focused on leading multidisciplinary design coordination and driving authority approvals, ensuring all design outcomes are compliant, buildable and aligned with programme and staging requirements. You will act as the key interface between client, consultants, contractors and approval authorities, playing a critical role in de-risking the project and maintaining momentum through the approvals process. As the project progresses, there is a clear pathway into broader project management responsibilities, moving into a senior delivery leadership role. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Lead the full design lifecycle across civil, utilities and infrastructure scopes Manage and coordinate design consultants, driving accountability, programme and quality Take ownership of authority approvals and stakeholder interfaces, including Penrith City Council, Sydney Water & Endeavour Energy Drive timely approvals, servicing strategies and authority compliance across all packages Ensure design aligns with staging, constructability and delivery methodology Lead value engineering and buildability reviews to optimise outcomes Manage RFIs, design changes, approvals tracking and documentation control SKILLS & EXPERIENCE Proven experience as a Design Manager or Senior Project Engineer / PM with strong design exposure Strong background in civil infrastructure projects (bulk earthworks, utilities, subdivisions, precinct developments) Demonstrated experience managing authority approvals and external stakeholder engagement Deep understanding of servicing coordination (water, sewer, power, roads and drainage) Ability to challenge design and drive practical, delivery-focused solutions Strong commercial awareness across programme, cost and risk Confident communicator, capable of leading senior consultants and authority stakeholders THE OPPORTUNITY Key leadership role on a major infrastructure project within the Western Sydney Airport precinct.
