Position Overview The Research Grants Officer manages the administrative and clerical duties associated with peer‑reviewed grants and fellowships, supporting researchers through the entire grant lifecycle from prospect identification to successful funding and compliance. Benefits

- Grant Management (Pre‑Award & Post‑Award) – oversee the end‑to‑end grant lifecycle.
- Application Support – assist researchers in preparing and submitting funding applications, including compliance checks and coordinating large‑scale collaborative bids.
- Grant Establishment – work with researchers and business units to meet all administrative, ethics and legal requirements.
- Financial & Milestone Monitoring – set up finance schedules and ensure timely submission of scientific and financial reports.
- Stakeholder Liaison – act as the point of contact for external funding organisations (e.g., NHMRC).
- Advisory Services – provide guidance on eligibility changes, collaborations, and grant variations.
- Publication Repository Management – maintain the Garvan Publications Repository, support metadata entry and ensure compliance with open access mandates.
- Reporting & Data Analysis – compile recurring reports such as quarterly board reports and annual reports for NHMRC, OHMR MRSP and Perpetual; provide ad‑hoc data analysis for senior leadership.
- Records & Continuous Improvement – maintain electronic records for grant funding and adopt best‑practice initiatives. Qualifications
- Relevant qualification and/or experience in university or research institute grants management.
- Proven experience in both pre‑award and post‑award grant management.
- Strong understanding of medical research publication practices, indexing databases and open access policies.
- Data literacy – ability to manipulate publication data, interpret complex datasets and produce reports.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; ability to build relationships with internal and external stakeholders.
- Commitment to the Australian Code for the Responsible Conduct of Research.
