Estates & Sustainability Manager – International Network …, City of Sydney

The UK in Australia Network consists of five Missions – the British High Commission in Canberra, as well as Consulates-General in Perth, Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney. The Corporate Services Team is responsible for ensuring that the network operates effectively and efficiently: providing HR, finance, procurement, security, transport, IT, and estates services to approximately 150 staff across Australia. The Estates Officer is the Network lead on: Estate management, including local oversight and liaison with the Network’s Facility Management provider; mainstreaming sustainability into the Network’s operations; and Health and Safety policy and implementation. They will work closely with, and report to, the Corporate Services Manager and/or Head of Corporate Services. They will also work closely with the Protocol Officer who leads on UKB arrivals and departures, including housing allocation. The role requires experience in operational delivery, and a strong focus on continual improvement. The successful candidate should have excellent interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills, and will need to develop a valuable understanding of compliance and legal requirements, both from the UK and in Australia. Roles and responsibilities / what will the jobholder be expected to achieve:
- Act as Network point of contact for all office Estates matters, liaising with relevant policy or delivery leads, including regional specialists, to address issues promptly and ensure the Estate is managed in line with FCDO policy and UK / Australian legal standards.
- Local liaison with, and oversight of services provided by, the outsourced Facilities Management (FM) provider in Australia, in conjunction with the Regional Contract Manager. Ensure the Network’s requirements and experience are accurately reflected in contract and performance discussions.
