Job Description – Solution Designer (GCP) Location: Sydney Role Overview We are looking for an experienced Solution Designer with strong expertise in Google Cloud Platform (GCP) to design scalable, secure, and high-performance cloud-based data and application solutions. The role involves translating business requirements into technical architectures and ensuring alignment with enterprise architecture standards and best practices. Key Responsibilities
- Design and document end-to-end GCP-based solutions for data and application platforms
- Translate business and functional requirements into scalable technical architectures
- Define architecture patterns for data pipelines, integration, and cloud-native applications
- Collaborate with stakeholders including business teams, architects, engineers, and vendors
- Ensure solutions align with enterprise architecture, security, and governance standards
- Provide technical leadership and guidance during solution implementation and delivery
- Evaluate and recommend appropriate GCP services and tools
- Conduct solution reviews, design validations, and risk assessments
- Support cost optimization and performance tuning of cloud solutions
- Document architecture diagrams, design artifacts, and technical specifications Must Have Skills & Experience
- 7+ years of experience in solution design, architecture, or related roles
- BigQuery
- Dataflow
- Pub/Sub
- Cloud Functions / Cloud Run
- Experience with data architectures, integration patterns, and distributed systems
- Strong understanding of cloud architecture principles (scalability, resilience, security)
- Experience in API design and system integration
- Proficiency in Python / SQL or other relevant programming languages
- Familiarity with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, and Infrastructure as Code (Terraform)
- Knowledge of data governance, security, and compliance frameworks
- Strong documentation and stakeholder communication skills Nice to Have
- GCP certifications such as Professional Cloud Architect or Data Engineer
- Experience with microservices architecture and containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
- Exposure to multi-cloud or hybrid cloud environments
- Experience with streaming and event-driven architectures
- Knowledge of AI/ML services (Vertex AI)
- Experience in industry domains like telecom, banking, or retail
- Familiarity with architecture frameworks (TOGAF, SAFe)
- Robust analytical and architectural thinking
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
- Ability to align technical solutions with business strategy
- Problem-solving and decision-making capabilities
