Role Description This is a full-time or part-time hybrid role based in Sydney, NSW, with flexibility for some work-from-home arrangements. This is a cross-functional role spanning business development, partnerships, ecosystem management, commercialization support, strategic communications, and opportunity development. You will work closely with BTQ leadership, researchers, technical teams, startup founders, universities, government stakeholders, investors, and industry partners to identify and unlock growth opportunities across the quantum landscape. You’ll help BTQ expand its presence across Australia’s rapidly growing quantum sector while contributing to international strategic initiatives and commercialization pathways. What you’ll do
- Build and manage strategic relationships across the quantum, cryptography, and emerging tech ecosystem, including universities, research centres, government agencies, startups, and industry partners
- Lead stakeholder engagement activities including discovery calls, partnership discussions, collaboration planning, and follow-up coordination
- Identify and support partnership, commercialization, grant, and funding opportunities across Australia and international markets
- Draft and coordinate proposals for research collaborations, consortium initiatives, ecosystem programs, and funding applications in collaboration with BTQ’s technical and operational teams
- Represent BTQ at conferences, roundtables, university engagements, industry working groups, and ecosystem events through networking, presentations, and relationship development
- Collaborate with BTQ’s global teams to align Australian initiatives with broader company strategy and support cross-functional projects and partnership execution
- Maintain stakeholder pipelines, partnership databases, meeting outcomes, action items, and engagement timelines
- Support workforce development and university engagement initiatives including internships, student programs, curriculum discussions, and industry-academic collaborations
- Assist in translating academic research into real-world applications by supporting commercialization pathways, IP development, strategic positioning, and funding opportunities
- Prepare communications materials including slide decks, briefing notes, ecosystem summaries, partnership updates, and stakeholder-facing presentations
- Monitor developments across the Australian and global quantum ecosystem, including policy, funding, regulatory, and technical developments relevant to BTQ’s strategic priorities
- Provide strategic and operational support to BTQ leadership as the Australian business and ecosystem presence continues to grow What we're looking for
- Advanced degree (Masters or PhD preferred) qualification in business, science, engineering, technology, marketing, finance, or a related field
- Experience in ecosystem management, partnerships, business development, commercialization, innovation programs, or strategic initiatives within technology, deep-tech, research, or startup environments
- Strong interest in or understanding of the quantum technology ecosystem, post-quantum cryptography, cybersecurity, advanced computing, or emerging technologies
- Comfortable engaging with and communicating complex technical concepts across both technical and non-technical audiences, including researchers, industry partners, investors, and government stakeholders
- Ability to translate technical research, products, and capabilities into partnership opportunities, strategic initiatives, funding proposals, and ecosystem engagement activities
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including proposal writing, stakeholder engagement, presentation development, and strategic communications
- Entrepreneurial mindset with the ability to operate effectively in a fast-moving, highly collaborative startup environment
- Interest in emerging areas including post-quantum cryptography, quantum networking, secure communications, and next-generation digital infrastructure
- Ability to work collaboratively in a hybrid workplace and communicate complex technical results clearly
- Right to work in Australia Nice to have
- Experience working with universities, research organizations, government agencies, innovation programs, or industry consortia is highly valued
- Prior business development experience within a quantum/emerging tech ecosystem
