C++ Software Engineer for Naval USVs & AI-Driven DevOps …, City of Sydney

Ocius Technology is an Australian company dedicated to developing and deploying cutting edge Uncrewed Surface Vehicles (USVs). Our vessel harness Wind, Solar and Wave power to remain at sea collecting vital data for Defence and Civilian applications. We are under contracts with RAN, RNZN and USA and are responding in an agile way to an ambitious program of building and deploying multiple USVs for operations around Australia and beyond. About the Role Our Software Engineers are developing and uplifting all systems responsible for our Bluebottle USV platform. The Software Engineering team work closely with our Operations team and other engineers, ensuring that the Bluebottle is constantly evolving and completing effective on-water missions. The Engineering function is responsible for maintaining and enhancing the design of Ocius assets, particularly the Bluebottle platform, while actively responding to operational and production requirements to ensure continuous improvement. Typical day as a Software Engineer could include:
- Designing and developing solutions in C++
- Configuring and maintaining CI/CD pipelines
- Gathering requirements from technical and non-technical stakeholders Selection Criteria
- Strong C++ programming experience within a highly structured environment – defence preferred
- Understanding of and experience working with design tools such as UML for software engineering
- Strong understanding of the full SDLC, from requirement elicitation through to formal test qualification and deployment
- Ability to deploy, test and maintain software products in a CI/CD setting
