Technical Officer – Messaging (Defence ICT) Sydney/Canberra/Perth | $800-$900/day | Mon–Fri (40 hrs/week) | Contract till 30th June 2026 with 3 more 6‑month extensions | NV2 Security Clearance | On‑site only (DSN access required) Join the Fleet Information Setting (FIE) Modernisation Project, a critical Defence initiative delivering secure and integrated ICT systems (Minerva) to support Navy operations at sea and on land. We’re looking for a skilled Technical Officer – Messaging to support and manage the messaging infrastructure in complex, secure Defence environments. Key Responsibilities
- Administer and support Exchange, Active Directory, Skype, and XMPP tools
- Manage messaging in multi‑forest distributed environments
- Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues under DDIL conditions
- Support digital certificate management and user access
- Create and maintain SOPs and build documentation
- Participate in on‑call rotation and assist with system deployments and training Skills & Experience
- Experience as a Network/Gateway engineer
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in Defence Deployed systems
- Demonstrated experience and knowledge in networking technologies including:
- Routing
- Switching
- IPSec, VPN, VLAN, OSPF, BGP, MPLS TE
- Next‑Gen firewalls
- Voice Over IP
- Enterprise wireless LAN infrastructure
- Network segmentation
- Network Access Control
- Network telemetry protocols such as NetFlow, SNMP, etc. Experienced with
- Microsoft Exchange Administration Processes
- Microsoft Active Directory Administration
- Microsoft Skype Administration
- Citrix Virtual Desktop Administration
- Hypervisor Maintenance and Administration
- VoIP Desirable Familiarity with Fortinet, Cisco, Red Hat, HYCU, Minerva, and monitoring tools like Elastic or Carbon Black Requirements
- NV2 clearance (or ability to obtain)
- Must comply with ITAR regulations
