- Prepare laboratories and teaching spaces for routine practical activities, including setup, pack down and turnaround, in line with established procedures.
- Prepare and stage routine materials, reagents and consumables within scope, and assist senior staff with specialised preparations as directed.
- Provide in‑session assistance and respond to routine operational issues to minimise disruption to teaching and research.
- Perform routine equipment checks and basic set up/operation within scope, escalating non routine issues as required.
- Restock, store and distribute standard consumables and maintain local stock levels and records.
- Support routine health and safety activities, including following safe work practices, assisting with risk assessments and maintaining registers.
- Provide flexible support across discipline teams and other operational areas under direction to meet operational demand. Skills, attributes and knowledge
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Ability to plan, prioritise and organise work in busy environments with tight timeframes.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
- Attention to detail and ability to comply with standard operating procedures.
- Basic computer skills in commonly used programs such as Microsoft Word and email.
- Knowledge of laboratory procedures relevant to the discipline area.
- Understanding of Work Health & Safety principles and practices.
- Emergency preparedness, willingness to support local emergency preparedness and response activities, including completion of required training and undertaking emergency warden duties when appointed (as required). Experience
- Experience working in a laboratory environment with routine laboratory processes.
- Experience supporting teaching or research activities within scope.
- Experience handling hazardous materials and following secure handling procedures (where applicable).
- Experience with basic procurement, stock control or logistics support (desirable).
- Experience in environmental field trips (where applicable). Qualifications
- Completion of a Diploma of Science; or equivalent relevant work experience or a combination of work experience and education/training.
- Drivers License (where applicable). Remuneration / Salary Base Salary Range: $77,194
- $82,568 (HEW4) plus 17% superannuation (pension) The position is full time and will be made on a continuing basis. What We Offer
