Assistant Project Manager - Solar PV & BESS (City of Sydney)

About The Company Join a well-backed renewable energy developer delivering large-scale Solar PV and BESS projects across Australia. About The Role This role will play a critical part in taking projects from late-stage development through pre‑construction and into execution/delivery. The position will initially focus on pre‑construction activities including EPC strategy, contractor engagement, OEM selection, technical coordination, procurement support, and project readiness leading into Financial Investment Decision (FID). Once projects reach FID, the role transitions into full project delivery oversight, managing EPC contractors through construction, commissioning and handover. The client is open to 2+ years of project management / project engineering experience within renewables. You will need to be comfortable working autonomously in a small team, although the business will be going through an organic growth phase. Key Responsibilities
- Lead utility‑scale Solar PV and BESS projects through pre‑construction and execution phases
- Manage EPC tendering processes, contract negotiations, and contractor onboarding
- Coordinate OEM selection and technical evaluation for modules, inverters, trackers, BESS systems, transformers, and key balance‑of‑plant equipment
- Oversee project budgets, schedules, procurement activities, and risk management processes
- Manage EPC contractors throughout construction up to project handover
- Coordinate stakeholders including NSPs, consultants, OEMs, landowners, and regulatory authorities
- Support commissioning, energisation, and final project handover activities About You
- Proven experience delivering utility‑scale Solar PV and/or BESS projects in Australia
- Solid understanding of pre‑construction activities, EPC contracting models, and project execution strategy
- Experience managing EPC contractors and multi‑disciplinary project teams
- Knowledge of solar/BESS OEM technologies including panels, inverters, trackers, and battery systems
- Strong commercial acumen with experience managing project budgets, schedules, and risk
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills Benefits
