About the prospect We’re looking for a Software Engineer, Process Automation to join our Digital & Data team in Sydney. This permanent role plays a key part in delivering enterprise‑grade automation solutions that underpin Charter Hall’s investment, customer and operational processes. Working closely with Solution Architects, Engineers, Product Managers and Business Analysts, you’ll design and build scalable, reusable and resilient automation solutions that integrate systems across the Charter Hall value chain. This role applies strong software engineering principles to automation delivery and is ideal for someone who enjoys building reliable solutions that materially improve how work gets done. What you’ll be doing Right from the start, you’ll do impactful work that improves efficiency, reliability and decision‑making across the business. In this role, you’ll:
- Design and deliver enterprise‑grade automation and integration solutions aligned with our Digital and Technology Strategy
- Contribute to the automation strategy and roadmap, prioritising initiatives that deliver measurable business value
- Translate business requirements into technical automation designs in collaboration with Digital & Data stakeholders
- Build secure, scalable and reusable automation solutions using platforms such as Workato (or similar)
- Apply software engineering best practices including version control, testing, error handling, logging and monitoring
- Develop and maintain reusable automation components, templates and connectors
- Lead testing and support automation solutions through deployment and into production
- Support the administration, optimisation and reliability of automation platforms, including monitoring and disaster recovery
- Champion development standards and continuously improve automation workflows and delivery practices You’ll be part of a collaborative Digital & Data environment where quality, reliability and long‑term value are front of mind. Your point of difference – what you’ll bring to the team
- Strong alignment to Charter Hall values and a collaborative, delivery‑focused mindset
- 4+ years’ experience designing and implementing automation, integration and workflow solutions in enterprise environments
- Hands‑on experience with Workato or similar automation and integration platforms (e.g. Power Platform, Boomi, Pega, Appian)
- Solid experience with API design and integration (REST, SOAP, JSON, XML)
- Strong understanding of security concepts including OAuth, API keys and role‑based access controls
- Proven application of software engineering best practices across the development lifecycle
- Experience working with Agile delivery practices and tools such as Azure DevOps
- Relevant tertiary qualification in technology, engineering, computer science or a related discipline Desirable experience includes Exposure to property or customer management platforms (Yardi, Forbury, Dynamics 365, Salesforce) and an understanding of change management and property or funds management lifecycles.
