This position will play a key role in the experience at The Farmer’s Wife Distillery, working closely with the head of Operations and our other departments to forge successful growth in the food and hospitality areas of our distillery door business.
Our distillery door is set in a beautiful rural location on the Bucketts Way tourist drive, just 45 minutes north of Newcastle. Our traditional yet sustainable approach to distilling has produced award-winning gins, earning recognition both locally and internationally.
Main Duties
Lead and manage the daily operations of the distillery door kitchen, including ordering, stock control, food costs and seasonal menu design and execution.
Maintain high standards of food quality, consistency and presentation ensuring kitchen systems and compliance are maintained
Hold current Food Safety Supervisor certification
Lead and mentor kitchen team
Full time 40 hours per week (mostly daytime hours)
What You’ll Bring
2 years’ experience as a Head Chef, or a robust Sous Chef ready to step up
Australian work rights are required
A genuine interest in seasonal and regional food.
Farm-to-table cuisine experience is essential
Robust leadership and communication skills
Proven experience in food cost control and kitchen operations
Comfortable in a busy fast paced workplace with a calm organised approach to service
A desire for stability, lifestyle balance and long-term work
