**About the role**

We are seeking an experienced **State Manager** to lead sales, operations, and customer service performance across the state. This hands-on role combines day-to-day new business development with strategic leadership, managing a small team of 3 to deliver revenue, profitability, and service targets.

**Key Responsibilities**

**Sales & Business Development**
- Develop and execute state-level sales strategies aligned with company objectives.
- Lead, coach, and motivate the sales team to achieve revenue and margin targets.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with key customers, suppliers, and stakeholders.
- Identify new business opportunities and drive market share growth.

**Operational Management**
- Oversee warehouse and distribution operations to ensure efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with safety standards.
- Implement best practices in inventory management, order fulfilment, and logistics.
- Monitor operational KPIs and lead continuous improvement initiatives.

**Leadership & People Management**
- Provide clear direction and leadership to teams across sales and operations.
- Foster a high-performance culture built on accountability, collaboration, and customer satisfaction.
- Manage workforce planning, recruitment, and staff development to support business growth.

**Financial & Reporting**
- Work closely with the Group Sales Manager and Group Commercial Manager on state budgets, forecasts, and performance reporting.
- Monitor financial performance and take corrective action where required.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.

**Experience, Knowledge & Skills**
- Minimum 3+ years in a leadership role with combined sales and operational responsibilities.
- Proven sales leadership experience, ideally within building products, trade, or related industries.
- Robust understanding of warehouse and distribution operations.
- Demonstrated ability to lead multi-functional teams and deliver results.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Strong commercial acumen, including budgeting and financial management experience
