Production Operator – Food Manufacturing | $29–$40/hr | Edinburgh SA Our client manufactures cheese for major Australian retailers and we're growing. Our Edinburgh facility is modern, purpose-built, and designed to be a place people actually want to work. We're hiring experienced Senior Production Operators for both Day and Afternoon shifts. This is a hands‑on machine operator role — not packing, not general labouring. You'll be running, setting, adjusting, and troubleshooting production equipment in a fast‑paced, high‑care food environment. The Role You'll be operating across a up-to-date production floor with a range of automated production and packaging machinery. If you've worked in a high‑volume food environment you’ll know the type of equipment — and you’ll be comfortable running it, not learning it from scratch. Day to day you will:
- Operate, set up, and adjust automated production and packaging machinery
- Complete product changeovers including film and label changes, parameter adjustments, start‑up checks and documentation
- Perform basic fault‑finding and first‑level troubleshooting
- Carry out routine quality checks – weights, seals, metal detection, coding, and visual inspection
- Work to SOPs and strict food safety, hygiene and WHS requirements
- Support training of other operators and act as a technical lead on your line when required Shifts Available
- Day Shift: approx. 6:00am – 2:00pm
- Afternoon Shift: approx. 2:00pm – 10:00pm Monday to Friday | Fixed shifts | Occasional overtime and Saturday available Please indicate in your application which shift you can genuinely commit to long‑term. Who We’re Looking For
- 5+ years in food manufacturing, FMCG, dairy, meat, poultry or similar high‑volume processing
- Genuine machine operator experience – you can talk through start‑up, settings, changeovers and fault‑finding in detail
- Comfortable in a cold, wet, high‑care environment in full PPE – whites, hair nets, gloves, boots
- Strong attendance record, safety‑first mindset and solid SOP discipline
- We’re not looking for packers or general hands. If you’ve operated machinery in a regulated food environment and can prove it, we want to hear from you. Pay & Progression Start at $29/hr based on experience. Progress to $40/hr as you are trained and signed off on new machinery and areas. Applicable shift loadings and overtime on top.
