Position Purpose The Telecommunications Network Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and optimizing telecommunications and data network systems. This role supports the company’s technical operations by ensuring network infrastructure is efficient, scalable, and compliant with industry standards. The position plays a critical role in maintaining system performance, resolving complex technical issues, and supporting the delivery of reliable communication solutions across client projects. The role contributes to business growth by enhancing network capability, supporting new technology integration, and ensuring operational continuity. Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Design and implement telecommunications and data network systems including fibre optic, broadband, and wireless infrastructure
- Analyze client requirements and develop network configurations and technical solutions
- Install, configure, and integrate telecommunications equipment, routers, switches, and transmission systems
- Monitor network performance and optimize system reliability, capacity, and efficiency
- Diagnose and resolve complex network faults, outages, and performance issues
- Conduct testing, commissioning, and validation of telecommunications systems
- Prepare technical documentation including network designs, specifications, and reports
- Evaluate and recommend new technologies, equipment, and system upgrades
- Ensure network systems comply with Australian telecommunications standards and regulatory requirements
- Support integration of telecommunications systems with IT and client infrastructure
- Coordinate with internal teams, contractors, and clients for project delivery and implementation
- Maintain accurate records of network configurations, maintenance activities, and system performance
- Provide technical support and guidance to field technicians and operational staff
- Adhere to workplace health and safety (WHS) policies and procedures Qualifications and Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in Telecommunications Engineering, Electrical/Electronic Engineering, or equivalent or higher qualification
- Minimum 3 years of relevant full-time experience in telecommunications or network engineering roles
- Strong experience in network design, configuration, and troubleshooting of telecommunications systems
- Experience with fibre optic networks, IP networking, and broadband infrastructure
- Knowledge of telecommunications standards, protocols, and compliance requirements in Australia
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, schematics, and system specifications
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with advanced technical capability
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
