Development Assessment Engineer (201152) Permanent Full Time

In this dynamic role, you’ll contribute to high-quality, sustainable development outcomes
- ensuring projects are efficient, compliant and community-focused, while supporting integrated and responsive engineering services that enable the region’s growth. Your responsibilities will include:
- Development assessment expertise – Assess planning and operational works applications across a variety of development types ranging from roadworks and drainage to water and sewer infrastructure
- Technical advice – Provide clear, practical engineering guidance to internal and external stakeholders
- Infrastructure outcomes – Coordinate, negotiate and monitor development-related infrastructure works
- Compliance & quality – Ensure applications and works align with legislation, standards and best practice
- Reporting & recommendations – Prepare concise reports, conditions and professional advice
- Stakeholder engagement – Liaise effectively with developers, consultants and internal teams
- Site presence – Conduct site inspections and attend meetings to support project outcomes
- Continuous improvement – Contribute ideas, share knowledge and support a high-performing team culture Skills and experience:
- Proven experience in development assessment or subdivision works
- Robust knowledge of civil engineering design and construction (roads, drainage, water, sewer, earthworks)
- Understanding and experience with Queensland planning frameworks, including the Planning Act 2016
- Familiarity with Queensland Urban Drainage Manual, Australian Standards and engineering best practice
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to interpret legislation and technical documentation
- Experience preparing reports and making defensible recommendations
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to engage and negotiate with diverse stakeholders
