POSITION DESCRIPTION: The Commis Chef supports the kitchen team in delivering high-quality food preparation and service across à la carte dining, events, and functions. Working under the supervision of senior chefs, this role focuses on maintaining consistency, efficiency, and compliance within a fast-paced hospitality environment. TASKS:  Assist in the preparation and cooking of menu items in accordance with established recipes and presentation standards  Support senior chefs (Chef de Partie / Sous Chef) in daily kitchen operations  Maintain cleanliness and organisation of workstations in line with food safety and hygiene regulations  Ensure proper handling, storage, and rotation of stock (FIFO principles)  Contribute to efficient service during busy periods, including functions and peak trading hours  Assist with basic food preparation tasks such as chopping, portioning, and plating  Monitor stock levels and report shortages or wastage to senior kitchen staff  Follow all Work Health and Safety (WHS) and food safety compliance requirements REQUIREMENTS:  Minimum 1 year experience in a similar role within hospitality environments  Tertiary qualification in Commercial Cookery or a related field  Strong knowledge of cooking techniques, ingredients, equipment, and kitchen operations  Ability to work effectively under pressure in a fast-paced setting  Strong knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards  Flexibility to work a rotating roster, including weekends and public holidays If you are interested in joining a professional Job Type: Full-time Pay: $75,000.00 – $85,000.00 per year Work Location: In person Apply on Kit Job: kitjobau.com/job/3qhq11
