Senior Environmental Advisor – Senior Environmental Advisor – 1-year Tenure with possibility of extension This exciting role reports to the Environment Superintendent and is part of an outstanding team of dynamic environment, approvals, and community professionals committed to high performance. Key Responsibilities
- An absolute commitment to working safely, complying with all site safety standards and ensuring a safe and environmentally healthy workplace.
- Coordinate and track monitoring and sampling for Air, Surface water, Groundwater, Soils, Sediments, potable water and wastewater.
- Assessment of results against standards.
- Participation and input into the ongoing development and implementation of the site’s Environmental Management System, including the development of Work Instructions and Procedures and assisting with Plans.
- Coordinate reporting programs involving NGERS, NPI, weekly/monthly reporting, DES waste reporting and Permit Returns.
- Managing, investigating, and reporting on environmental incidents.
- Providing general environmental advice and assistance to site operations.
- Coordinating and developing environmental projects.
- Assist EAC department and others as required.
- Learning and growing with the team, sharing ideas and contributing to innovative solutions to complex issues. About You Essential
- A passion to excel as an environmental professional.
- 4+ years’ experience working on a mine (preferably metalliferous) site in an environmental role with similar responsibilities.
- Robust commitment and focus on achieving positive environmental and safety outcomes.
- Tertiary qualification(s) in environmental science or closely related disciplines.
- High level of attention to detail, an ability to interpret data and problem solve.
- Basic knowledge of Environmental Management Systems.
- Experienced at coordinating and preparing internal and external reports.
- A current manual drivers’ licence approved in Queensland.
- Experience in managing environmental consultants and contractors.
- Well-developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to deliver quality work within tight deadlines.
- Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Experience with Microsoft suite, GIS software and environmental databases.
- Must live within the Townsville, Burdekin, Charters Towers region, or surrounding areas (within 200km of Ravenswood) or be willing to relocate to the area. Desirable
- Experience in the Queensland legislative environment.
- AUSRIVAS accreditation.
- 4WD driving experience.
- Strong QGIS skills and experience.
