Latrobe Regional Health is looking for a Consultant Psychiatrist to join our growing team on a full time (1.0EFT) or part time fixed term basis.
We are seeking an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist to provide high-quality psychiatric care as part of the Mental Health Program. This senior medical role delivers clinical leadership, high-level assessment and treatment services, and contributes to teaching, supervision and continuous improvement across the service. The Consultant Psychiatrist plays a vital role in ensuring best-practice, person-centred and culturally sensitive mental health care while supporting reform, prevention and early-intervention initiatives aligned with state-wide priorities.
Responsibilities
Provide high-quality acute assessment, diagnosis and treatment for mental health consumers, ensuring documentation is timely, accurate and compliant with legislative requirements.
Deliver clinical care using evidence-based treatment modalities, ensuring services are family-inclusive, culturally sensitive and in line with best-practice models.
Offer primary and secondary consultations to other clinicians, GPs and community services, and contribute to prevention and early-interventions initiatives.
Provide clinical leadership, supervise junior medical staff and support teaching for trainees, medical students and multidisciplinary teams.
Contribute to service governance, clinical reviews, communication processes and committee work to support quality and safety.
Qualifications
Fellowship of the Royal Australian and New Zealand College of Psychiatrists (RANZCP) or equivalent.
Registered (or eligible for registration) with AHPRA as a Specialist Psychiatrist.
Demonstrated experience working as a Consultant Psychiatrist with strong capability in planning, delivering and evaluating mental health services.
Excellent collaborative communication skills with the ability to build productive partnerships across multidisciplinary teams and community services.
Strong interpersonal skills demonstrating integrity, respect, empathy, adaptability, and commitment to person-centred care.
