About the role This role is responsible for leading Council’s Accounts Receivable function end‑to‑end, from debt recovery through to receipt of payment, ensuring strong governance, accuracy and integrity across all transactions. The position drives continuous improvement in credit management systems, policies, and processes, with a focus on standardisation, optimisation and best‑value outcomes. You will oversee end‑of‑month procedures, banking transactions, while preparing and analysing credit management and banking reports to support informed decision‑making and effective team actions. As a people leader, this role sets operational objectives, manages work plans and delegates tasks to ensure high performance and accountability across the team. You will contribute to a positive, customer‑focused performance culture that values respect, excellence and financial discipline, while minimising Council’s exposure to unrecoverable debt. The role also supports the development and implementation of Council‑wide credit management policies and collaborates across the organisation to embed strong customer service principles into all accounts receivable activities. This position is required to provide quality customer service and create value for the community. Key activities of this role
- Lead and oversee Council’s end‑to‑end Accounts Receivable and credit management function.
- Drive continuous improvement, strong financial governance and customer‑focused outcomes.
- Manage and empower a high‑performing team to minimise risk and maximise revenue recovery. You will have
- a certificate IV qualification in Business Administration or related field OR demonstrated solid contemporary experience in Debt Recovery, combined with ongoing professional development
- high level written and verbal communication skills, with ability to engage and communicate with Senior finance team
- demonstrated leadership behaviours, including active communication with the team in regard to performance, business strategy, diversity, coaching and mentoring and change management with dedication to continuous improvement
- demonstrated ability to build solid, credible relationships and influence, persuade or negotiate outcomes that are of benefit or add value, to all or part of the organisation.
- The commencing salary for this position is up to $106.9k per year. Central Coast Council also provides progression opportunities for employees to progress up to the maximum salary of $123.5k per year on completion of assessment of skills and performance plus 12% superannuation
- We have a permanent full-time role available
- This role will be able to access a 9-day fortnight
- We are able to offer hybrid and flexible working conditions for this role
- 2 days from home and 3 days onsite
- This role is located at the Wyong Administration Building. Other information
