About The Opportunity The Senior Social Worker in the Sexual Assault Service (SAS) provides integrated psychosocial responses—counselling and crisis care—to adults and children who have experienced Sexual Assault, and to their non‑offending family members. This role works closely with colleagues within VAN Services and across the health service to facilitate recovery and trauma‑informed care. Responsibilities
- Deliver trauma‑informed counselling, casework, and crisis intervention to clients and non‑offending family members.
- Provide education, consultation, and support to internal and external professionals and community partners.
- Mentor and support junior social workers and students to develop skills and best practice.
- Lead and participate in continuous improvement initiatives and clinical research to enhance service delivery.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure culturally safe, coordinated, and client‑centred care. Qualifications
- A Degree in Social Work with eligibility for AASW membership and a demonstrated understanding of AASW Practice Standards.
- Experience providing trauma‑informed counselling, crisis intervention, and sexual assault casework across diverse populations.
- Advanced understanding of the impact of trauma on children, young people, and adults, with demonstrated assessment and therapeutic skills.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and conflict resolution skills to work effectively with clients, families, and partner agencies.
- Proven ability to manage competing priorities, work autonomously, and lead quality improvement initiatives in complex environments. Benefits
