Overview Do you want to use your engineering expertise to deliver quality work for your community? This role will see you develop, compile and continuously improve critical technical specifications, work instructions and procedures for the benefit of the Central Coast region. We are currently searching for a new Civil Works Engineer to join our Water and Sewer directorate and if this is something you would be passionate about this is your opportunity to rewrite the future with us! Responsibilities
- Play a critical role in the maintenance and operation of essential water and sewer infrastructure.
- Provide engineering technical support, develop detailed specifications, plan maintenance programs and oversee project management tasks.
- Contribute to the safety and compliance of operations and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
- Apply engineering expertise within the operation and maintenance of Council’s network, which includes over 50 reservoirs, 350 pumping stations and nearly 5,000 km of pipelines. Qualifications
- A degree in Civil Engineering or a related field, or demonstrated substantial contemporary experience in a similar role combined with ongoing professional development.
- Current Construction General Induction Card – NSW SafeWork or equivalent.
- Knowledge and experience in the operation and maintenance of water and sewer assets such as pumping stations, mains and reservoirs.
- Solid communication skills, able to interact with managers, peers and field teams through verbal and written channels.
- Project‑management experience, with the ability to research, problem‑solve, manage and deliver projects on time and to budget.
- Experience developing and implementing scheduled maintenance programmes and compiling condition assessment reports. Salary and Benefits
- Commencing salary up to $106.6 k per annum, with maximum progression to $123.5 k on completion of skills and performance assessment.
- 3.5 % Civil Liability Allowance (in accordance with the Award) and 12 % superannuation.
- Permanent full‑time role with a 9‑day fortnight, 3 days on site and 2 days from home.
- Leaseback vehicle for official duties and private use, or an alternative pre‑used vehicle or vehicle allowance of $207.31 per week pending supply.
- Long‑service leave after 5 years of continuous service.
- Time for annual skin‑cancer screening, breast screening and blood donations.
- Access to professional development, career development and learning programs.
- Employee award programme (Cheers program) to reward and recognise staff.
- Novated leasing partnerships. Location Central Coast Council is located on the northern fringe of Sydney, an hour’s drive from Newcastle.
