Construction Electrician (Yass)
Description
**The Opportunities | Commencing September 2026 | Across NSW**

We’re launching a new opportunity for electricians who want more than just the tools. Our Construction Electrician role is the perfect stepping stone for those who aspire to grow, lead, and shape the future of energy infrastructure with Transgrid, with opportunities available across all major regional depots throughout NSW, including across: Sydney, Newcastle, Orange, Wagga, Yass & Tamworth. Start dates from September 2026 onwards, with flexibility for earlier commencement if required.

You will work as part of a high-performing construction team responsible for substation installation, commissioning, and project delivery across our transmission network. You’ll be mentored by experienced leaders, exposed to a variety of major infrastructure projects, and gain the knowledge and practical experience to build a long-term career in energy infrastructure delivery.

**A Day in the Life at Transgrid**

No two days are the same in this role. You’ll be part of our construction team, working alongside experienced Site Managers and Technicians to deliver critical substation works that keep our energy network running.

A typical week includes:

- Pre-start coordination; conducting safety briefings, reviewing documentation, and planning daily work activities across multiple sites.
- Field installation and commissioning; performing HV and LV electrical works, assisting in equipment testing, isolations, and commissioning under Transgrid’s standards.
- Stakeholder collaboration; liaising with contractors, project managers, and internal delivery teams to ensure safe, efficient progress across all works.
- Safety leadership and mentoring; promoting best practice safety culture, contributing to toolbox talks, and supporting apprentices and peers in the field.
- Professional growth; spending time learning from Site Managers, gaining exposure to project planning, resource coordination, and quality assurance activities.

This role combines hands-on technical work with real opportunities to learn, lead, and progress. You’ll develop the confidence and capability to manage construction activities independently while preparing for future leadership roles within Transgrid.
