Description
The Institute for Biomedical Devices (IBMD) is a multidisciplinary research institute that focuses on using its expertise in photonics, imaging, nanotechnology, microfluidics, chemistry and physics to develop devices that transform biomedical technologies. Our research will have direct effect of people living with chronic disease (i.e. cancer, cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative disease) and provide opportunity for financial gain in NSW via the commercialisation of these technologies.
**About the role** Two part-time **Postdoctoral Research Associates **are recruited to support the Future Fellowship Project
- Nanothermometers on Live Cells, under the supervision of Professor Jiajia Zhou, at the Institute for Biomedical Devices (IBMD). This Project involves the establishment of new purpose-built instruments by upgrading the existing optical microscopes with additional components and photonic modulations, such as quantum modulation of laser sources, and adding digital micromirror devices and matched software programs to perform super-resolution thermometry. The adoption of these outcomes in new technologies should provide significant benefits in cell biology research, life sciences, engineering sciences and Australia’s imaging and sensor industries. **About You** Two highly skilled PDRAs proficient in optics and programming will join UTS part time for this project, becoming an integral part of our research team. They will benefit from mentorship and career support, including opportunities for co-supervising students, to bolster their research skills, build networks, and gain supervisory experience, essential for future independent research endeavours. By offering two part-time positions (0.5FTE), these positions will be particularly suitable to those wishing to return to academia after a career break. To be successful in this role you will have a PhD in optics, optical engineering, nanophononics, or microscopic imaging. **Base Salary Range**:$89,818 to $109,393 pa (Level A) This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) **in addition **to the base salary.
