The Faculty of Science’s organisational structure consists of two schools, two research institutes, administrative services, and Technical Services. Comprising of five discipline-based teams and an operations team, Technical Services is Faculty led, providing technical expertise and operational management for Academic Staff and students covering more than 100 teaching and research laboratories and ancillary spaces that includes a store and workshop. **About the Role** The Faculty of Science is currently recruiting for a **General Laboratory Assistant** to join the Technical Operations and Infrastructure Team on a full-time, continuing basis. The General Laboratory Assistant provides a range of services to support the day-to-day operations of teaching and research laboratories in the Faculty of Science. This position involves performing a range of tasks to ensure the smooth operation of laboratory activities, including glassware and lab cleaning, consumable reordering, and restocking plus providing assistance and support as needed. **If successful for this role, some of your responsibilities will include**:

- Clean standard, PC2, and specialist laboratories in compliance with standard operating procedures
- Appropriately handle and remove laboratory wastes in compliance with standard operating procedures
- Organise laundry and restock of laboratory coats and gowns
- Clean, wash and restock laboratory glassware
- The ability work independently and as part of a team, including the ability to respond to changing circumstances and critical situations
- The ability to with standard operating procedures
- The ability to identify and escalate problems **Remuneration**

**Base Salary Range: $59,785 to $62,620 pa (HEW 2)** This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) **in addition **to the base salary.
