The Faculty of Science’s organisational structure consists of two schools, two research institutes, administrative services, and technical services. **About the Role**
An exciting chance to join the newly established Australian Research Centre of Excellence for Transformative Meta-Optical Systems within the Faculty of Science at UTS. We are looking for an enthusiastic researcher with expertise in nanofabrication and nanophotonic characterisation to contribute to the emerging area of meta-optics.
**About the Centre**
The ARC Centre of Excellence for Transformative Meta-Optical Systems (TMOS) brings together five Australian and 13 leading international universities as well as Australian and global companies to create entirely new optics-based technologies with enormous market potential. The Centre has received $34.9 million funding from the Australian Research Council to operate from 2020-2027.
TMOS will develop the next-generation of miniaturised optical systems with functionalities beyond what is conceivable today. By harnessing the disruptive concept of meta-optics, the Centre will overcome complex challenges in light generation, manipulation and detection at the nanoscale. The Centre brings together a trans-disciplinary team of world-leaders in science, technology and engineering to deliver scientific innovations in optical systems for the Fourth Industrial Revolution.
**Some of your responsibilities will include**:
- Undertaking high quality science research and provide solutions to real world problems and specific industry needs in the broad topic of meta-optics
- Participating in and present at research seminars and conferences
- Producing high quality research publications
- Participating in acquiring competitive grant funding (ARC fellowships etc)
- Providing quality research supervision, where eligible, for Higher Degree Postgraduate and
- Honour students, and contribute to the research training programs of TMOS
- Developing new research directions within the scope of TMOS and form cross collaboration with other CIs and industry and international partners.
- Ability to undertake original research, as evidenced by timely and high quality outputs.
- Contribute to the development and research performance across the Centre by providing guidance on experimental design and data processing.
- Willingness to contribute to seek research funding from external sources
- Demonstrated capacity to work independently and as part of a team.
- PhD in physics, engineering or a related discipline.
- Track record of peer reviewed publications.
- Proven ability to conduct high quality research, evidenced by peer-reviewed publications and citations.
**Remuneration and Benefits**
**Base Salary Range: $89,818 to $109,393 pa (Level A)**
This role attracts 17% superannuation (pension) in addition to the base salary.

This position is **full-time, **and the appointment will be made on a f**ixed term basis for 2 years.**
