Description Job Title: Officer, Learning Technology (AI & Assessment) Faculty / School / Unit: Learning Design and Technology About the Team The Learning Design & Technology Unit sits within the Education Portfolio of the Deputy Vice Chancellor (Education and Students). The Unit consolidates expertise in digital pedagogy, the learning technology ecosystem, inclusive practices, educational media and learning experience design, enabling the streamlining of staff support and innovation to improve the student experience. About the Role The Officer, Learning Technology (AI & Assessment) provides specialist support and operational leadership in implementing and enhancing digital learning technologies at UTS, with a focus on AI and assessment tools. The role delivers expert technical support to academic and professional staff, resolves complex issues, improves digital learning environments, and collaborates with stakeholders to deliver innovative teaching and learning solutions. As a key member of the Learning Design & Technology Unit, the role exercises initiative and influence to drive service excellence, support strategic projects, and contribute to faculty and university goals. Responsibilities
- Support the rollout of DLE enhancements, upgrades, and change initiatives aligned with UTS priorities in AI, assessment, digital transformation, accessibility, and education innovation.
- Provide hands‑on technical support to academic staff using assessment and AI tools, including troubleshooting issues and escalating complex cases as required.
- Contribute to planning, coordination, and delivery of DLE projects, including documentation, reporting, and support for tool updates and retirements.
- Develop and maintain training resources and deliver workshops, onboarding, and instructional materials to support effective use of learning technologies.
- Support continuous improvement and AI in education initiatives by analysing feedback, evaluating tools, advising on ethical and pedagogical considerations, and contributing to data‑driven reporting and best practice development. Selection Criteria / Qualifications
- Experience in developing service models, user guides, training materials, and documentation.
- Demonstrated understanding of learning design, pedagogy and assessment principles in higher education, and experience applying these in digital or AI‑enabled contexts.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of Gen AI tools and their application in teaching & learning contexts, along with knowledge of related ethical, social and equity considerations.
- Proven ability to work collaboratively with academic and professional staff across diverse teams.
- Sound understanding of digital learning technologies and their application in higher education, including responsible AI, privacy, data governance and risk considerations. Remuneration and Benefits Base Salary Range: $109,014 – $120,596 per annum (HEW 7). This role attracts 17% superannuation. UTS staff also benefit from a wide range of employee benefits, including adaptable work practices, generous parental leave and salary packaging opportunities.
