Placed.au is looking for a full-time Mechanical Engineering Technician for our client in Melbourne Airport, Victoria. This role is responsible for the technical inspection, diagnosis, repair, and maintenance of e-scooters and related personal electric mobility devices, supporting the distribution and after-sales service operations of the business. Job Description
- Inspect, diagnose, and repair mechanical and electrical faults on e-scooters and personal electric mobility devices in accordance with manufacturer specifications and technical guidelines.
- Perform routine servicing and preventative maintenance on e-scooters including battery systems, motor assemblies, braking systems, steering components, and structural frames.
- Dismantle, repair, and reassemble mechanical and electromechanical components of e-scooters and personal mobility devices.
- Use diagnostic tools, testing equipment, and technical manuals to identify faults and determine appropriate repair solutions.
- Conduct quality assurance checks and functional testing of repaired units prior to return to service or dispatch to customers.
- Maintain accurate records of all repairs, parts used, service history, and technical findings in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist in the development and improvement of repair procedures, technical documentation, and maintenance schedules.
- Liaise with suppliers and manufacturers regarding warranty claims, spare parts procurement, and technical support requirements.
- Support the warehousing and distribution team with incoming goods inspection, product assembly, and pre-delivery inspection of e-scooters.
- Provide technical advice and support to internal teams and customers regarding e-scooter operation, maintenance, and fault resolution.
- Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with workplace health and safety requirements and relevant Australian product safety standards.
- Identify and report safety hazards, defective products, and technical risks to management promptly. Qualifications / Attributes
- Must hold a Diploma of Engineering (Mechanical) or a relevant Diploma of Engineering, or at least three (3) years of relevant work experience may substitute for the formal qualification.
- Must possess at least one (1) year of relevant work experience as a Mechanical Engineering Technician or in a similar mechanical or electromechanical repair and maintenance role.
- Experience in the repair and maintenance of e-scooters, electric bicycles, or similar personal electric mobility devices is highly desirable.
- Ability to use diagnostic tools and interpret technical manuals and engineering drawings.
- Sound understanding of mechanical systems, electrical components, and battery technology relevant to personal electric mobility devices.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality workmanship and safety compliance.
