JobScout Pty Ltd are working to assist our client, Kew Automotive Electrical, an established automotive electrical workshop based in Wallan, Victoria. The business specialises in the diagnosis, repair, installation and servicing of electrical and electronic systems across a wide range of motor vehicles, including passenger cars, light commercial vehicles, 4WDs, trucks and trailers. Servicing both local motorists and commercial clients across Wallan and the wider Mitchell Shire region, Kew Automotive Electrical has built a strong reputation for quality workmanship, honest advice and reliable turnaround. From auto electrical fault-finding and battery, starter motor and alternator repairs through to wiring, lighting, air conditioning, accessory fit-outs and modern vehicle diagnostics, the workshop is committed to keeping its customers safely and confidently on the road. Our client is now seeking a skilled and qualified Automotive Electrician to join their busy workshop team. The role is full time and ongoing. Responsibilities of our Automotive Electrician will include:
· Examine vehicles and discuss with vehicle owners and operators the nature and extent of electrical faults and the required works.
· Refer to circuit diagrams, wiring schematics and manufacturer specifications, and use diagnostic and test equipment to locate and diagnose electrical and electronic faults.
· Remove, repair, recondition and replace faulty electrical components such as alternators, generators, starter motors, batteries, lighting, ignition, fuel injection, anti-theft and air conditioning systems, and engine management systems.
· Test electrical systems and components using multimeters, oscilloscopes, scan tools and other diagnostic test equipment.
· Install electrical and electronic equipment and accessories such as driving lights, fans, heating and air conditioning systems, audio systems, reversing cameras, dual-battery systems and anti-theft/security systems.
· Fit and connect electrical components, instruments, wiring harnesses and accessories.
· Repair and replace faulty wiring, connectors and defective electrical and electronic parts.
· Reassemble, test and road-test components and vehicles following repairs to confirm faults are rectified and systems operate to specification.
· Carry out auto electrical work across a range of vehicles, including passenger cars, light commercials, 4WDs, trucks and trailers.
· Provide accurate time and cost estimates for electrical repair and installation work.
· Maintain accurate job cards, service reports and documentation.
· Maintain a clean, safe and organised workshop, and comply with all workplace health and safety requirements, manufacturer procedures and relevant Australian standards at all times.
· Keep up to date with developments in vehicle electrical and electronic technology. To be successfully considered for the role, you:
· Possess an AQF Certificate III or IV in Automotive Electrical Technology, or an equivalent recognised trade qualification. In some instances, relevant experience and/or on-the-job training may be required in addition to the formal qualification.
· At least three years of relevant experience may substitute for formal qualifications.
· Have proven, hands-on experience working as an Automotive Electrician.
· Have a minimum of 1 year of post-qualification experience working as an Automotive Electrician.
· Have sound knowledge of automotive electrical and electronic systems across both modern and older vehicles.
· Are confident using diagnostic scan tools, multimeters and other auto electrical test equipment to fault-find and repair.
· Have experience with wiring, lighting, charging and starting systems, air conditioning and accessory installations.
· Are able to read and interpret wiring diagrams, circuit schematics and technical manuals.
· Hold a current Australian driver's licence.
· Understand and apply workplace health and safety requirements at all times.
· Have strong attention to detail and a methodical, safety-conscious approach to diagnosis and repair.
· Take pride in delivering high-quality workmanship and excellent customer service.
