About the role… As part of Council's Assets and Infrastructure team, the Parks & Gardens
- Maintenance Officer plays an important role in maintaining and enhancing Council's parks, gardens, reserves and community spaces. Reporting to the Maintenance Coordinator, you will undertake a broad range of parks and gardens duties including mowing, landscaping, irrigation maintenance, weed control and general upkeep of Council open spaces and facilities. The role also supports broader maintenance and infrastructure activities, including CWMS operations, minor repairs and plant operation as required. This is a varied and hands on position suited to someone who enjoys outdoor work, takes pride in maintaining community spaces and is willing to contribute across Council operations where needed. - Undertake lawn maintenance, mowing and grass cutting activities
- Plant, maintain and care for trees, shrubs and landscaped areas
- Prepare and maintain garden beds and public open spaces
- Undertake irrigation installation, repairs and watering activities
- Carry out weed spraying and vegetation maintenance
- Assist with nursery and plant propagation duties where required
- Remove rubbish and litter from parks and reserves
- Operate plant and equipment to support maintenance and construction activities
- Assist with general maintenance, repairs and CWMS operations
- Conduct routine plant and equipment inspections and minor maintenance
- Maintain accurate work records and participate in team and WHS activities What they are looking for…
- Experience in gardening, landscaping or parks maintenance environments
- Ability to operate plant and equipment safely and effectively
- Strong commitment to workplace safety and teamwork
- Practical, reliable and hands on approach to work
- Ability to work with minimal supervision and follow procedures
- Good communication and customer service skills
- Willingness to support broader Council works and maintenance activities
- Flexible approach and willingness to undertake out of hours work when required Desirable requirements…
- SACE or equivalent working history within a relevant industry
- Relevant gardening or landscaping experience
- White Card
- WZTM
- Work Zone Traffic Management
- Current South Australian MR or HR Driver's Licence
- Ability to obtain a National Police Clearance
