Mechanical Engineer (Newcastle City Council)

What You'll Do Join our growing Mining team in Newcastle and play a key role in delivering practical, high-quality mechanical engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of projects. We’re looking for a Mechanical Engineer with a strong background in pumps and piping systems to support the design and delivery of small to medium-scale mining and resources projects. This role sits within our established NSW mechanical team and offers exposure to multidisciplinary project environments.
- Design and analyse pumping systems and pipeline networks for mining and industrial applications
- Develop technical specifications, reports and design documentation
- Support project delivery across concept, design and execution phases
- Undertake hydraulic calculations and system modelling
- Coordinate with internal disciplines and external stakeholders, including contractors
- Contribute to maintenance strategies and operational improvements for plant and infrastructure About You
- Degree-qualified Mechanical Engineer
- Proven experience in pump and pipeline design within mining, water, or heavy industry
- Strong understanding of hydraulic design and system analysis
- Experience preparing technical documentation and specifications
- Exposure to project delivery and contractor coordination
- Proficient in relevant CAD tools and engineering analysis methods
