Mayfield Garden is one of Australia's most spectacular private gardens, welcoming 80,000 visitors every year. It is located close to the towns of Bathurst and Oberon in the NSW Central Tablelands. At 65-hectares Mayfield is the largest cool climate garden in the Southern Hemisphere and one of the most prestigious horticultural destinations in Australia. Our collection includes an Herbaceous Border (designed by renowned designer Paul Bangay), Kitchen Garden, Rose Garden, Water Garden and an extensive range of Heath and Heather plants and Conifer species. We were recently featured on Sydney Weekender We are seeking an experienced senior horticulturist with leadership skills to play a significant role and join our passionate team of gardeners. You will be responsible for a dedicated section of the garden. We are looking for a person with excellent work ethic and attention to detail. Qualifications And Experience
- Qualifications in a horticulture trade certificate or 5 years' experience in Horticulture or an associated industry.
- Demonstrated ability to lead and motivate a team, maximise productivity and problem solve.
- Demonstrated garden maintenance experience in an estate, municipal, commercial, or golf workplace.
- Commitment and enthusiasm to ongoing learning in horticulture, science, work practices, training programs, equipment and technology.
- Valid driver's licence. Core Responsibilities
- Play a leading role in the garden team responsible for a section of the garden.
- Ensure all routine garden maintenance tasks, planting and projects are completed in line with agreed targets.
- Undertake management of materials, machinery, tools and area.
- Supervise apprentices, labourers and tradespersons. Terms and Perks
- Full-time position – five days, 38 hours per week.
- Annual salary range $60,000 to $82,000 plus superannuation.
- Short-term settling accommodation is available to a candidate who wishes to move and settle in the Oberon region.
