About the Company Our client is one of Australia’s leading telecommunications providers. They are looking to consider candidates who are looking for contract opportunities. About the Role We are seeking a Junior Network Engineer to support site‑based assessments and reviews across customer environments, with the initial engagement located in the Hunter region. The role involves conducting detailed network site surveys, assessing and validating existing infrastructure, and identifying gaps, risks, and improvement opportunities. The successful candidate will be required to attend customer sites as needed, working closely with the existing network team to provide hands‑on support and ensure alignment with operational standards and ongoing initiatives. This role is embedded within the customer environment and requires strong collaboration and stakeholder engagement skills. Responsibilities
- Support LAN/WAN network design activities, assisting with solution development and documentation under guidance from senior engineers.
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network devices including switches and routers in enterprise environments.
- Gain hands‑on exposure to routing and switching technologies such as OSPF, BGP, VLANs, STP, and basic QoS concepts.
- Provide support for firewall configurations, security policies, and VPN setups while ensuring adherence to security standards.
- Participate in network monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance optimisation activities to maintain service availability.
- Assist in SD‑WAN deployments and general network upgrades or migrations as part of project delivery teams. Skills and Experience
- Foundational understanding of networking concepts including routing, switching, and basic network security principles.
- Exposure to network technologies through academic projects, internships, or entry‑level roles.
- Solid problem‑solving skills with a willingness to learn and develop technical capabilities.
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team and follow established processes and guidance from senior engineers.
- Basic experience or familiarity with multi‑vendor environments such as Cisco, Fortinet, Extreme Networks, or HP/Aruba is desirable.
