Due to continued growth and a strong pipeline of upcoming work, we are seeking an experienced Contracts Administrator to join our Commercial team. Based in the Newcastle region, this role offers the opportunity to contribute to the successful delivery of a broad range of civil construction projects, supporting commercial outcomes and working closely with project teams across the business. Requirements About the Role As a Contracts Administrator within our Commercial team, you will play a key role in supporting the commercial and contractual delivery of civil construction projects across Daracon Group. Working closely with Project Managers, site teams and subcontractors, you will be integral in drafting and negotiating of our down-chain agreements, while ensuring compliance with contractual obligations under our head contracts. This role requires consistent engagement with both internal and external stakeholders, including operational teams, clients and subcontractors, to facilitate clear, timely and professional communication across all phases of a project. Key Responsibilities include:
• Maintaining and updating a range of commercial registers, ensuring all information is accurate and up to date
• Supporting the preparation, negotiation and administration of subcontract agreements, including coordination of execution and distribution
• Reviewing head contract provisions to identify key obligations, risks and entitlements, and supporting their practical application across projects
• Developing head contract summaries of key commercial obligations, notice timings, and pass-through obligations to support our project delivery teams
• Reviewing subcontractor’s progress claims to ensure compliance with executed subcontract agreements
• Supporting the broader project team in managing competing priorities and meeting key contractual timeframes
• Attending project sites on an ad hoc basis across Newcastle, the Central Coast and Singleton regions, as required About You To be successful in this role, you will bring proven experience in a Contracts Administrator or similar commercial role within the civil construction, engineering or building industry. You will have a strong understanding of contract administration processes and be confident working across multiple projects in a fast-paced setting. You will demonstrate:
• Proven experience in contracts administration, including the preparation, negotiation and execution of subcontract agreements
• A sound understanding of Security of Payment legislation
• Experience assessing subcontractor pricing submissions and preparing compliant scopes of work that reflect head contract obligations
• The ability to interpret head contracts and identify key commercial risks, obligations and opportunities as they apply to project delivery
• Working knowledge of Australian Standards and NSW Procurement standard forms of contract commonly used in the civil construction industry
• Exceptional attention to detail and a high level of accuracy in managing documentation and registers
• The ability to manage competing priorities and meet critical deadlines in a dynamic project environment
• Sound problem-solving skills, with confidence in decision-making and the ability to exercise judgement appropriately
• Well-developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, enabling you to work effectively with clients, subcontractors and internal teams
• A high level of proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Word, with the ability to produce clear and professional documentation
