This is a 23-month fixed term, full-time position commencing ASAP with possible extension The Secondary Schools, District High Schools and Post-School Pathways Directorate provide coordinated expertise to regions and secondary schools identified as requiring support. It provides responsive support for Vocational Education and Training (VET), workplace learning and career development. It also provides strategic advice and subject matter expertise to schools, regions and the system in relation to secondary and district high school VET provision with a focus on providing meaningful post-school pathways for students. The Role The Regional Learning Specialist (RLS) project supports students who are:
- located at regional schools
- enrolled through the School of Isolated and Distance Education (SIDE)
- studying ATAR courses in the English, Mathematics, Science, Humanities and Social Sciences (HASS) learning areas. The RLS complements the online classes provided by SIDE teachers by providing senior secondary students with:
- face-to-face tuition
- online fortnightly tutorials.
- online exam revision seminars. The RLS team also build the capacity of less experienced regional teachers by sharing:
- curriculum expertise
- exemplary teaching and learning practices. Applicants must commit to the significant statewide travel that is essential in this role. A current driver’s license is required. The successful applicant should be a highly organised, expert and passionate teacher of English, who possess the professional knowledge, understanding, and experience to deliver engaging and relevant online and face-to-face sessions to support students studying ATAR subjects in English. The successful applicant should be flexible, willing to work collaboratively with staff and possess strong interpersonal skills to allow connection across school communities to achieve the best outcomes for all students. Experience in teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) English and/or Literature is highly desirable. Experience in teaching Australian Tertiary Admission Rank (ATAR) English EALD is highly desirable.
