About the Role: Mater Dei College has the opportunity for a full time, temporary Design and Technology Teacher to become an integral part of the College’s Design and Technology Team, commencing Semester 2, 20th July 2026. This will be a leave cover for all of Term 3 2026. We are seeking a vibrant, passionate, dedicated and confident individual who is committed to helping our students reach their full potential. The Design and Technology Teacher will be responsible for a variety of tasks within the Design and Technology Learning Area that are inclusive of, but not limited to:
- Implementing effective teaching strategies to engage and challenge students of varying abilities to achieve specific learning outcomes.
- Fostering a stimulating, encouraging and inclusive classroom environment designed to support student growth.
- Delivering engaging Design and Technology curriculum, guiding students through the design process while developing their creativity, problem-solving, practical, and critical thinking skills in areas such as design thinking, materials and technologies, production processes and innovation.
- Programming for classes within the Design and Technology Learning Area and thoroughly planning for each lesson.
- Assessing the performance of students in accordance with College procedures and where required, maintaining contact with parents regarding the performance and wellbeing of students.
- Meeting the deadlines set by the Head of Learning Area and College Executive. About You: The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate a high level of professionalism whilst supporting the Catholic ethos and values of the College. You will:
- Have the ability to teach across all year levels (Years 7–12).
- Hold a tertiary qualification in Secondary Education, preferably with a specialisation in Design and Technology,
- Have experience teaching high school students.
- A comprehensive understanding of the Western Australian Curriculum.
- Be committed to creating engaging, inclusive, and high-quality learning experiences that cater to a range of student abilities.
- Show strong organisational and interpersonal skills, with the capacity to collaborate with colleagues.
- Possess excellent communication skills and the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and staff.
- Be dedicated to ongoing professional growth.
- Actively support and contribute to the co-curricular life of the College.
