Production Manager (Bullsbrook)

Gateway Milling is a new feed mill venture jointly owned by Westpork and Thompson and Redwood – two leading agribusinesses in Western Australia. Our strategic direction is to ensure delivery of locally sourced, nutritionally balanced feed that supports healthy animal growth and strengthen our integrated supply chain. We have an additional Production Manager position on offer to join our new Management team. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operations of the mill, ensuring production targets are achieved safely and efficiently, troubleshooting operational issues, and coordinating freight and delivery requirements to meet customer timeframes. The core responsibilities for the successful candidate are:
- Oversee daily mill operations to ensure a protected, efficient and consistent production outcome
- Monitor production throughput and performance to ensure operational targets and delivery deadlines are achieved
- Troubleshoot plant and operational issues to minimise downtime and maintain productivity
- Coordinate production activities and operational resources to optimise mill performance
- Liaise with freight providers and internal stakeholders to ensure dispatch and delivery timeframes are met
- Manage inventory control, storage and handling of raw materials
- Supervise the receival of raw materials, ensuring adherence to quality and safety compliance and report discrepancies to the Mill Manager.
- Lead, motivate and develop team members through effective people management and strong leadership practice
- Drive a culture of safety, accountability, continuous improvement and operational excellence across the site
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency, reliability and overall mill performance Skills, Knowledge and Experience required:
- Significant experience in a milling or process manufacturing environment
- HACCP and Feedsafe knowledge highly regarded
- A strong focus and commitment to safety, customer satisfaction and continuous improvement. Familiar with a culture of 5S, TPM, LEAN/Six Sigma.
- Mechanical aptitude and knowledge of mill equipment operation/maintenance (an advantage).
- Experienced forklift operator with a valid forklift licence (highly desirable).
- Ability to work on a rotating roster.
