Core Responsibilities
- Lead and support process optimisation initiatives across cable manufacturing lines to improve safety, quality, productivity and cost efficiency.
- Analyse production performance data to identify trends, bottlenecks and improvement opportunities.
- Develop, trial and validate machine settings, tooling requirements and material parameters for stable and capable processes.
- Plan and execute Design of Experiments (DOE) and structured root‑cause investigations to resolve recurring process issues.
- Collaborate with Production, Quality and R&D; teams to introduce recent products, materials and equipment into manufacturing.
- Prepare and maintain process documentation, including SOPs, Work Instructions, OPLs and control plans.
- Support equipment capability studies, commissioning activities and continuous improvement projects (e.g., scrap reduction, energy optimisation).
- Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards, quality systems and safety requirements.
- Provide technical support to operators and supervisors, including on‑the‑floor troubleshooting and training. Skills & Competencies
- Strong analytical and problem‑solving skills with the ability to interpret technical and statistical data.
- Effective communication skills with the ability to work cross‑functionally.
- Hands‑on, practical mindset with strong attention to detail.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office; experience with statistical tools (e.g., Minitab) is advantageous.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively.
- Understanding of manufacturing processes, continuous improvement and lean methodologies.
- CAD experience (e.g., AutoCAD) desirable but not required.
- Knowledge of cable manufacturing, materials or telecom/power cable standards is beneficial. Experience
- 2–5 years in a similar engineering role within manufacturing, process engineering or industrial operations (cable industry preferred but not essential). Qualifications
