Description
About Belfast Wealth Management At Belfast Wealth Management, we are a values-driven financial planning business based in Port Fairy on Victoria’s stunning Shipwreck Coast. We service a smaller number of complex clients with varied tailored advice solutions. We’ve built a reputation as a practice that genuinely looks after its people – reflected in flexible working arrangements, structured remuneration packages and clear career pathways. We’re a tight-knit team with a flat structure: no internal politics, no hierarchy getting in the way of good ideas, and no BS. About the Opportunity We are looking for two types of candidates for this position: Option A – Financial Adviser An experienced, fully authorised adviser (3‑5 years+) ready to take ownership of an established client base, lead meaningful client relationships, and help shape the future of our business. You might be an Associate adviser now or already in an independent role. Option B – Graduate Financial Adviser (Professional Year) A recent graduate ready to commence their ASIC mandated Qualified Year under close supervision. This is a genuine pathway to full authorisation – not a para‑planning dead end. This may suit someone with 0‑3 years experience in the industry. About the Role Our advice spans strategic, goals‑based financial planning across:
- Wealth accumulation, investment strategy & portfolio management
- Superannuation, retirement income planning & transition to retirement
- Succession planning & inter‑generational wealth transfer
- Cash flow management & debt reduction strategies The core of this role – regardless of seniority – is building genuine, long‑term relationships with clients who value great advice. Specifically:
- Participating actively in client meetings and delivering an outstanding experience at every touch point
- Preparing and presenting comprehensive advice
- Modelling financial strategies aligned to each client’s individual goals and objectives
- Conducting regular client reviews and proactively identifying opportunities to add value
- Maintaining full compliance with the Corporations Act, FASEA Code of Ethics, and ASIC guidance
- (Senior) Mentoring junior team members and contributing to practice strategy and growth
- (Graduate) Completing all structured Professional Year requirements, modules, and quarterly check‑ins Qualifications
- Completed an ASIC-approved degree in financial planning, commerce, or equivalent (both roles)
- Passed the Financial Adviser Exam, or eligible to commence the Professional Year (Graduate)
- Experience with financial planning software – Xplan, Midwinter, AdviserLogic, or similar
- Exceptional communication skills: you can translate complex financial concepts into plain English
- Highly organised with the ability to manage competing priorities without dropping the ball
- A genuine, caring approach to client service – you’re in this to make a real difference
- A self‑starter who thrives with autonomy but also loves being part of a team
- A genuine desire to live and work in regional Victoria – Port Fairy is not a compromise, it’s the draw card Benefits
- Coastal Lifestyle – Work in one of Australia’s most beautiful towns
- Annual Reviews – Pay, bonus & performance reviews – your hard work is recognised
- Genuine Career Progression – Clear pathway from Graduate to Adviser to Senior Adviser
- PY Support – Structured, fully-supported Professional Year for graduate candidates
- Work‑Life Balance – Flexible arrangements, no city commute, manageable client loads
- Quality Clients Only – No cold calling – work with committed, pre‑qualified clients
- Real Mentorship – Work 1 on 1 with an experienced adviser – not a tick box PY
- Strong Culture – Flat structure, no politics, a team that genuinely gets along About Port Fairy Port Fairy is one of Victoria’s most loved coastal towns – renowned for its heritage street scapes, world‑class folk festival, fresh seafood, and a community that actually knows your name.
