About the Role We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter to join our Engineering team in Clontarf. Reporting to the Engineering Manager, this hands-on role supports daily manufacturing operations through preventative maintenance, rapid breakdown response, fault finding, equipment upgrades, and operational improvement activities across a diverse range of manufacturing and packaging equipment. This is a highly production-support focused role suited to someone who enjoys problem solving, working collaboratively with production teams, and taking ownership of equipment reliability and performance in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. You will work across automated filling lines, mixers, pumps, conveyors, pneumatic systems, packaging equipment, and facility infrastructure while supporting machinery upgrades, installations, and business improvement projects. Standard hours are 6.30am to 2.36pm, Monday to Friday, with occasional overtime and after-hours breakdown support required to meet operational needs. Key Responsibilities Equipment Maintenance & Reliability
- Perform preventative and corrective maintenance across manufacturing and packaging equipment.
- Conduct scheduled inspections and servicing of plant and equipment, including compressors, dryers, pumps, and production machinery.
- Diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs to restore equipment safely and efficiently.
- Provide rapid breakdown response support to minimise downtime and maintain production continuity.
- Complete preventative maintenance tasks within required timeframes to achieve maintenance compliance targets.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, inspections, and spare parts usage within the CMMS system. Production Support
- Assist with equipment set-ups and changeovers in collaboration with Production teams.
- Provide technical support during manufacturing operations and work closely with machine operators to identify equipment issues and improvement opportunities.
- Ensure maintenance activities are completed efficiently with minimal disruption to production schedules.
- Support achievement of maintenance response-time and equipment reliability KPIs. Improvement & Projects
- Identify and implement process and equipment improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, safety, and operational efficiency.
- Participate in root cause analysis and structured problem-solving activities relating to recurring faults and breakdowns.
- Assist with machinery upgrades, modifications, installations, and commissioning activities.
- Support capital improvement projects and liaise with contractors and external service providers when required. Safety, Quality & Compliance
- Perform all work in accordance with workplace health and safety policies and procedures.
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with GMP, hygiene standards, SOPs, and company policies.
- Follow lockout/tagout, isolation, and permit-to-work procedures at all times.
- Maintain workshop cleanliness and organisation in line with 5S principles. Success in This Role Looks Like

- Trade qualification in Mechanical Fitting, Fitting & Turning, or equivalent.
- Previous experience within pharmaceutical, chemical, food, cosmetics, beverage, or other high-speed manufacturing environments.
- Demonstrated experience with preventative maintenance programs and breakdown response activities.
- Strong fault-finding, troubleshooting, and analytical problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work autonomously while contributing effectively within a team environment.
- Strong organisational skills, time management, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and a proactive, safety-focused approach to work.
- Flexible and adaptable mindset with the ability to manage changing operational priorities.
- Commitment to safety, quality, GMP compliance, and operational performance outcomes. Desirable Skills
- Experience working with conveyors, filling machines, capping machines, labellers, pumps, and related production equipment.
- Experience using CMMS maintenance systems, ideally MEX.
- Basic fabrication and welding skills, with TIG welding experience highly regarded.
- Experience operating lathes and performing basic turning work.
- Exposure to pneumatic systems, sensors, and machine control systems.
