Your Opportunity Are you passionate about contributing to a small, effective and efficient Water & Wastewater Team in the Southern Downs? This job could be for you! In this role as a Water & Wastewater Labourer, you will be performing general water and wastewater maintenance work, including clearing blockages, water jetting, manhole construction and rehabilitation, water quality testing and completing emergency repairs using your general labouring skills and knowledge of water and wastewater construction and maintenance techniques and operational procedures, including demonstrated ability and previous experience to undertake manual handling, labouring and working in the outdoors for extended periods. You will operate and maintain a variety of plant (including backhoes), hand-held power tools and machinery, as well as
- at times
- operating specialised leak detection equipment. You will also plan for materials and plant required to carry out set tasks (including liaising with contractors), and many more tasks! Term:Permanent, Full-time Hours of Work: 76 hours per fortnight Pay Level:$2,444.00 to $2,503.14 per fortnight (Level 2
- 4), plus 12% superannuation and 17.5% annual leave loading In addition to the above pay rate, you will receive payment of the following current applicable allowance: Construction Allowance
- $80.90 per fortnight In accordance with Council's Enterprise Agreement and the relevant Award. Pay rate dependant on relevant skills and experience. Employment Base: Warwick, Queensland Other Information: A basic Literacy Test is required Applications Close: 11:59pm Tuesday, 16th June 2026 About the Department The Water & Wastewater Department works within the Infrastructure, Assets and Projects Directorate and delivers on the water and wastewater obligations of Council, whilst providing a high level of customer service to the community. Council’s Water Team delivers the essential services of water and wastewater (sewerage) to the Southern Downs community. Water services start at the source including the treatment and pumping of water, maintaining the network and providing water metering services. Wastewater services start with the property connection and includes maintaining the sewer network, managing pump stations and delivering wastewater treatment services at facilities across the region. - Prepare worksites prior to commencement and clean up following completion of works;
- Undertake fire hydrant flow and pressure testing;
- Read plans, interpret drawings and schematics;
- Assist with levels and setting out of jobs;
- Assist with costing jobs for private works; and
- Complete bitumen, asphalt and concrete works. What You Will Need To be considered for this role, you will need:

- MANDATORY POSITION REQUIREMENTS
- Immunisation record indicating Hepatitis A&B; vaccinations or immunity, or the ability to be vaccinated in accordance with Council's Immunisation Procedure; and
- Preparedness to work 24-hours on-call on a rotational basis, weekends and flexible hours.
- REQUIRED LICENCES & QUALIFICATIONS
- A current certificate for Working in Proximity to Traffic Awareness Parts 1 & 2, or the ability to obtain within a reasonabletimeframe before or during commencement;
- A Class C (Car) licence or greater;
- An Occupational Health & Safety Construction Induction Card ("White Card"), or the ability to obtain prior to commencement; and
- Enter and Work in Confined Spaces competency, or the ability to complete within 12 months of commencement.
- ​​​​​​​Sound literacy, numeracy and problem-solving skills, including the ability to compete documentation in the workplace
- Ability to work effectively in a small team
- Ability to plan work and complete within set timeframes
- Knowledge of Workplace Health & Safety considerations relevant to the role and how to limit risks in the environment where this role operates
