Assistant Materials Officers (x4) | Warwick & Toowoomba

Are you looking to kickstart your career in materials testing and civil infrastructure? We are currently seeking four (4) Assistant Materials Officers to join a major infrastructure project team. This is a contract starting in June and running through to 27th November with potential extensions. We have opportunities available for up to two officers based in Warwick and up to two based in Toowoomba.

The Role

Reporting to the Materials Technologist, you will provide vital support in materials classification and compliance. This is a hands‑on role that blends laboratory precision with rugged field investigations.

Key Responsibilities Perform basic materials classification and assist senior practitioners with specialist testing. Assist with sampling, equipment calibration, and site investigations across the region. Conduct all work in strict accordance with Management Operations Systems and develop a working knowledge of NATA accreditation. Maintain equipment and strictly adhere to Workplace Health and Safety (WHS) protocols, including the consistent use of PPE.

Rate: $ – $ per hour (depending on experience). Duration: June *th November .

Work Workplace & Physical Demands

This is a physically demanding role suited for those who enjoy active work and the outdoors. Perform regular, repeated physical tasks involving heavy equipment, shovelling, and lifting samples up to 20kg. Work involves walking through adverse terrain in both indoor and outdoor environments throughout the year. Travel with senior staff for pavement investigations; may include working in isolated locations.

Requirements Numeracy Skills: Sound ability to perform manual and software-based calculations. Resilience: Ability to handle the physical demands of field sampling and testing in various weather conditions.
