Painting Trades Worker (Blue Mountains City Council)

The Client One Touch Painting & Decorations Pty Ltd is a reputable residential painting services company located in Lara. The Role This is a full time salary with an annual salary set between $78000, depending on experience plus superannuation. Responsibilities
- Apply paint, stain, varnish, enamel and other finishes to surfaces using spray guns, brushes or rollers.
- Apply primers or sealers to prepare recent surfaces such as bare wood or metal for finish coats.
- Calculate amounts of required materials and estimate costs, based on surface measurements and/or work orders.
- Cover surfaces with drop cloths or masking tape and paper to protect surfaces during painting.
- Fill cracks, holes and joints with caulk, putty, plaster or other fillers using caulking guns or putty knives.
- Mix and match colours of paint, stain or varnish with oil and thinning and drying additives in order to obtain desired colours and consistencies.
- Clean surfaces by removing old paint and wallpaper.
- Polish final coats to specified finishes.
- Read work orders or receive instructions from supervisors or homeowners in order to determine work requirements.
- Spray or brush hot plastics or pitch onto surfaces.
- Use special finishing techniques such as sponging, ragging, layering or faux finishing.
- Waterproof buildings using waterproofers and caulking.
- Maintain correct record and general recordkeeping.
- Follow established protection procedures.
- Clean up the job site after work and return equipment and tools.
- Maintain a clean work environment.
- Put up scaffolding or set up ladders to perform tasks above ground level.
- Wash surfaces prior to painting with mildew remover, using brush.
- Apply wallpaper fabrics.
- Estimating costs involved and negotiating prices. Requirements
- AQF Certificate III relevant qualifications in painting.
- Relevant experience and skillset to perform aforementioned duties.
- At least 1 year experience in commercial and residential painting role in a professional and commercial setting.
- At least 1 year experience in high-performance and protective coatings.
- At least 1 year experience in a wide range of painting techniques, including faux finishes, marbling, graining, and fresco.
- At least 1 year experience in chemical stripping, abrasive blasting, and power washing techniques for surface preparation.
- At least 1 year experience using specialized materials such as waterproofing membranes, epoxy floor systems.
- Construction induction card.
- Good understanding of colour theory and various finish types.
- Physical dexterity to climb ladders, carry heavy equipment and to stand for long periods of time.
