Heavy Diesel Mechanic (Qualified) (Werribee)

Cavern Group is looking for an experienced Heavy Diesel Mechanic to join our small, established workshop team in Werribee. This is a casual or full-time role, with a 3-day-a-week part-time arrangement or 5-day full time available for the right candidate. Including the option for weekend / Public Holiday standby and emergency call outs You'll be working on heavy diesel vehicles, buses, prime movers, trailers, and plant equipment — a varied workload across scheduled servicing, reactive repairs, and diagnostic work. The workshop is well-equipped, the team is small and stable, and the work is genuinely interesting. Location matters: you must live within 30 km of Werribee (3030). We do reactive call-outs and we need someone who can respond from a reasonable distance within a 60min response time. We supply tools and service truck What you'll be doing
- Scheduled servicing and maintenance on heavy diesel buses, trailers, bob cats, excavtors, buggies, plant, tractors, fork lifts, passenger vehicles (petrol and diesel), and various other plant equipment
- Reactive repairs and breakdown diagnosis
- Diagnose and repair diesel engine systems and components
- Brake, suspension, driveline, and air system work
- Jaltest diagnostic interrogation and fault-finding
- Detailed written reports of work completed and condition findings
- Working alongside our existing staff on the larger jobs What we're looking for
- Cert III Heavy Commercial Vehicle Mechanical Technology (or equivalent trade qualification — essential)
- HC Licence a must
- Robust reactive repair skills and diagnostic ability
- Comfortable writing clear additional repair notes during servicing
- Confident with Jaltest diagnostic equipment
- IVECO bus air system experience is a real plus, but not compulsory
- Current Australian driver's licence
- Live within 30 km of Werribee 3030 What we offer
