Maintenance Fitter (Level 2) – Food Manufacturing
Location: Laverton North
Shift: Afternoon Shift – 4:00pm to 12:00am
We are seeking an experienced Maintenance Fitter with a minimum Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter & Turner) to join a fast‑paced food manufacturing environment at our Laverton site. This is a hands‑on role focused on maintaining, repairing and improving plant equipment to ensure safe and productive operations.
About the Role – Reporting to the Maintenance Supervisor/Manager, you will be responsible for installing, maintaining and repairing plant equipment in line with trade practices. You will play a key role in ensuring machinery reliability, minimising downtime, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.
Key Responsibilities
Perform preventative and breakdown maintenance on plant equipment
Diagnose faults and repair mechanical systems efficiently
Maintain hydraulic and pneumatic systems
Conduct safety checks in line with maintenance schedules
Support continuous improvement and equipment upgrades
Participate in on‑call roster for breakdown support
Work closely with production, QA and maintenance teams
About You
Minimum Certificate III in Engineering – Mechanical Trade (Fitter & Turner) or equivalent trade qualification
Previous experience as a Maintenance Fitter within manufacturing or food processing environments
Strong fault‑finding and problem‑solving skills
Ability to work autonomously and under pressure
Good communication skills and solid team focus
Commitment to safety, quality and compliance
Desirable Skills
Welding and fabrication experience
Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics and boilers
Forklift, EWP or confined space tickets
