Finance Assistant (Temp Part-Time) (Tumut)

Job Overview Council has an prospect for a competent and enthusiastic person to join the Management Accounting team assisting the team in an efficient and accurate manner by undertaking tasks in accordance with financial accounting standards and Council’s reporting requirements. Duties will be general financial duties including data entry, processing journal entries, maintaining and extracting data from Council’s system, maintaining finance records and creating reports. Essential Qualifications 1. Certificate IV qualification in finance or accounting or equivalent, or equivalent knowledge and skills gained through experience. 2. Experience in providing high level in financial administration and system support. 3. Demonstrated aptitude for understanding and maintaining specialised software systems. 4. Demonstrated ability to plan and organise priorities and monitor workflow in a high-volume workplace. 5. Demonstrated ability to provide a high standard of customer service to internal and external customers. 6. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of discretion and confidentiality and to ensure security of private and sensitive information. 7. Current Class C drivers’ licence. Desirable Qualifications 1. Previous experience in local government accounting 2. Experience using Technology One ‘OneCouncil’ system Location Snowy Valleys Council is a scenic and heritage-rich local government area in the South‑West Slopes region of New South Wales, covering approximately 8,959 km² with about 15,000 residents. The position is located within the council area and may be based in either the Tumut or Tumbarumba office. Conditions
- Temporary, part‑time position working 35 hours per fortnight for a period of 12 months.
- Working hours will be 7 hours per day for 5 days per fortnight, to be agreed with the successful applicant.
- Salary of $2,699.20
- $3,033.80 per fortnight based on qualifications, skills and experience.
- 12% superannuation.
- Remote area salary sacrificing options available.
